Always Coming Home, Spring Equinox 2012:
A small, limited edition collection exploring my ideas of creating one’s sacred space+to celebrate Spring Equinox. Inspired by the book “Always Coming Home’ by Ursula K. LeGuin, and the celestial music of Glasser & the psych-folk singer Mariee Sioux.
The collection was born of recalling vivid dream-landscapes of forgotten ancient/ futuristic villages, and the hope that lies in all of us to build community and design sanctuaries within our spaces for work, rest, and creativity. Bright hand-cut leather recalls familiar triumphant shapes:the angular flags of home-base, shields of family names, and the ever-present circle, symbolizing unity of all people and civilizations. The pieces are held safely with darkened brass chain and hand hammered jeweler’s bronze. Each piece is one of a kind and limited edition, made to order.
With the kind efforts of these rad friends, the lookbook came together beautifully:

Upcoming collaboration event to benefit Pixie Project:
Sword+Fern X Amy Sacks Eyewear- do good, look nice, and see well.
First Friday, March 2 from 6 til 10 pm, come to Sword+Fern to enjoy browsing and trying on select frames from local eyewear company Amy Sacks, accompanied by a newly designed collection of eyeglass chains by Emily Baker of Sword+Fern.
The eyeglass chains are reflective of Emily's classic jewelry line, incorporating familiar materials like gemstones, chunky vintage chain, recycled car parts, leather, and adding vintage recycled Sari rope into the mix to create one-of-a-kind eyeglass chains that make a statement as a new accessory.
Amy Sacks is out to create beautiful, high quality frames, and at the same time, support animal rescue. The Amy Sacks collection is created using a vibrant palate of hand polished Italian acetates.
This limited edition eyeglass chain design along with a selection of Amy Sacks frames curated by Emily Baker will be unveiled First Friday 3/2 at Sword+Fern.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to local animal rescue, Pixie Project!
